Why Get Your Blood Pressure Checked?
High blood pressure (hypertension) usually causes no noticeable symptoms, which is why it’s often called a "silent" risk factor — but over time it significantly raises your risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney disease. Regular checks are the only reliable way to catch it early.
Who Should Have This Check?
The NHS Community Pharmacy Blood Pressure Check service is aimed at adults aged 40 and over who haven’t had a blood pressure check in the last 12 months, as well as anyone referred in by their GP practice. It’s designed to detect previously undiagnosed high blood pressure, so it’s for patients who aren’t already being treated for hypertension — if you’re already on blood pressure medication, your GP practice manages your ongoing monitoring instead. If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible, just ask our team.
What Happens at My Check?
One of our trained team will take your blood pressure reading using a validated monitor, usually while you’re seated and rested. The whole check takes just a few minutes and is walk-in friendly.
What Do My Results Mean?
We’ll explain your reading clearly and what it means for you. If your reading is raised, we may ask you to have a repeat check, fit a home monitor for a short period, or refer you to your GP for further assessment.
What If I Need Follow-Up Care?
If your results suggest you may have hypertension, we’ll help arrange the right next step — whether that’s home monitoring, a GP referral, or lifestyle advice to help manage your blood pressure.

What our patients say
Trusted by the Chiswick community
“I’ve been using Alisha pharmacy for 20 years now. I have other pharmacies nearer to my home, but I always use Alisha because Raj and all the rest of the team there are so friendly, professional, knowledgeable, informative and helpful. They obviously really care about what they do. A local gem.”
— P Hall, Google Review
“Raj the pharmacist runs a service of excellence and care to his local community. He and his team go above and beyond and know their community. The standard has always been exemplary. Would be such a tragedy to lose all of this to something impersonal and generic.”
— Harika Basharan, Google Review
